I got a used SCT tuner and cleared the previous P0300 code to do the crank relearn, but then it gave me a P0315 instead. I can't clear this code, and it won't let me do the crank relearn unless all codes are clear.

I didn't have to do the security learn at all, but i thought that everyone would have to do the crank relearn.

You do need a special tool. I have seen the JLR-303-1595 Alignment tool, Crankshaft Damper, advertised for around $50.00.

It's a crank relearn procedure/process, yeah it's a real thing. Did they tell you what you're supposed to do? The procedure sets the camshaft positioning sensor to the new setup.
